Two Cairns Art Society galleries in Cairns offer a wonderful variety of artworks by more than 70 of its members.

Both galleries are open seven days a week. Visitors can enjoy the art and meet the artists.

CAS Gallery at DFO

DFO Shopping Centre, Mulgrave Road, Westcourt

Located at one of Cairns's inner shopping centres, the CAS Gallery at DFO features quality original art by many local artists, from paintings to sculpture and glassware, all for sale.

Many of these artists also have prints and cards for sale.

Also on show is the monthly Feature Artist exhibition, featuring a body of work by a member.

Members artists run the gallery, so can help guide visitors around.

To find out more, or become an exhibiting artist, contact the co-ordinator Janice O'Neill via the Contacts page.

Artists@work Studio & Gallery

29 Sheridan Street, Cairns

(opposite Rusty's Market)

This artists collaborative has a gallery, artists' studio and teaching spaces in the large "purple place" opposite Rusty's Market food court in the Cairns CBD.

Run by around 15 CAS members at any time, Artists@work is a busy hub that operates seven days a week, where artists work, exhibit, show visitors around the gallery, teach, and do commissioned works.

Monthly exhibitions in the front windows feature studio members, and non-members can also hire the front window spaces to exhibit for a month.

Sheran Barton teaches painting on Thursday and Saturday mornings, Yvonne Hering teaches traditional Japanese woodblock making and printing, and other members and non-members run periodic workshops.

The studio is also the home of ARC Disability's art classes, where ARC artists produce an enviable range of paintings, cards and craft, much of it for sale.
